Lay Ministry Programs
Upon completion of the Lay Ministry Training program, one may serve in a variety of areas in the congregation such as:
- Developing outreach ministries
- Mentoring new members
- Leading small group ministries
- Assist in administration and in developing stewardship programs
- Assist in care-giving ministry of the parish (hospital, home and care centers)
- Provide Bible studies in care centers
- Assist in family life education
- Assist in children’s ministry
- Youth ministry
- Keeping in touch with members who are not worshipping on a regular basis
- Developing men’s and women’s ministries
- Summer camps for children and youth
- Prayer ministry

Get involved in Bible Study and Service and learn from a Zion leader.
- Worship, Study, Fellowship, Serve… these are the first and ongoing ways to grow in faith and servant-leadership.
- Ministry leaders provide guidance and mentoring as you get started.
LHMI
Based in El Paso, the Lutheran Hispanic Missionary Institute provides quality, low-cost classes to prepare you for ministry.
- Classes are online and can be in-person if a local group commits to a course together
- The classes provide biblical and practical instruction useful in any church and also provides some special attention to Hispanic ministry.
- Classes available in English or Spanish.
- Completion of the program fulfills prerequisites for Seminary programs of the LCMS.
MTC
Based in California, the Mission Training Center provides quality, low-cost online instruction and regional workshops.
- Classes are online only.
- Classes are general in cultural scope.
- Classes are currently only available in English.
