Amelia (Amy) Bodey

In His abundant grace, our Lord Jesus Christ carried Amy Bodey into heavenly glory on May 30th. Amy served as secretary in the Zion office for thirty-six years, from 1973 to 2009.

The funeral service will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 9:30am.

Obituary

Amelia (Amy) L. Bodey: born on December 13, 1931, passed away on May 30, 2022. Amy is preceded in death by her husband, Homer A. Bodey, her granddaughter Mandy Ferguson, as well as her parents, sisters and brothers. Amy is survived by her children Cecilia Bodey, Cynthia Ferguson (husband Dan), and her grandson Daniel Ferguson.

Amy grew up in east Texas but settled down in El Paso after living the military wite life. While living in El Paso, Amy spent a great deal of her lite raising her children and cheering for the Texas A&M Aggies. Once her children were older, she pursued a career as the secretary for Zion Lutheran Church where she developed lifelong friendships with many of the parishioners.

Amy will always be remembered by her family and friends for her generous heart and dedication to her loved ones. She volunteered numerous hours working at Zion, helping the community and patrons of El Paso; from food drives, Christmas charity events, and her favorite pastime of quilting blankets for the homeless. She always found the time to help others.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of El Paso at CCC for making her journey to heaven as painless as possible. In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes contributions be made to Hospice of El Paso to help support their relentless efforts or to the Lutheran Hour Ministries.

Services will be graveside at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on June 13 at 9:30 A.M. in the East Pavilion.
