Since February 24th, members of Zion have been contributing to a program at Cristo Rey, a church in Cd. Juárez, Mexico. Earlier that month Elder Tim Eyerman explained a planned “Children’s Church” at Cristo Rey and the need to provide a simple lunch to the children who participated. We decided to collect money, both through the Sunday morning Adult Class and the general offering, to support the program.
The program, originally planned for 50 children, officially started on March 25th. Since then 60-80 children have attended each week and each child has received a sandwich and a drink while attending “Children’s Church.” Some parents have stayed for adult Bible study and a few families are starting to attend church at Cristo Rey. If you want to be involved in this mission program, where a little money goes a long way, just leave your offering in the basket in the Adult Class in the Fellowship Hall–it’s out every Sunday–or in the collection plate in a designated envelope.
