The Easter Music Festival that was held on April 12th was great! It offered an opportunity to celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection in all the joy and musical styles present in our different LCMS churches in El Paso and Las Cruces. Zion participated in a big way. Many members attended and its choir, handbell choir, organist and pastor participated in the program. Jesus Christ was the focus of this musical celebration and in addition to the wide variety of musical genre’s employed in the proclamation of Christ’s resurrection, pastors read the biblical easter account and led prayer. Choir, Praise Band, an Organ prelude and organ-accompanied hymnody, Handbell Choir, Mariachi Band, Gospel Choir, Classical Guitar, and a few vocal soloists all demonstrated the great talent and wonderful variety that exists in our churches.
An offering was taken and will be utilized to help fund the Juarez Lutheran Missions’ children’s day activities as well as purchase children’s Bibles.
Many thank you to Pastor Brian Bestian, Pamela Miller, and Pastor Richard Schlak who planned and coordinated the event and to all the pastors, music directors, and musicians who devoted so much time and preparation to the program.
